GLoW (Girls Learning to Weld)
Young Chefs Culinary Camp
Children’s Music Lessons
Introduce your child to the joy and excitement of music. This program provides one-on-one instruction with a music instructor in Piano, Violin, and Woodwind. Students meet with instructors for a 25 minute lesson once a week for thirteen weeks during the student’s selected time slot. Age eligibility is listed for each course. All skill levels are welcomed.

MUSC01 - Children’s Music Lessons: Woodwind
Woodwind lessons are for either flute, clarinet, or saxophone and cover basic skills such as playing position, posture, tone production, practice skills, rhythmic awareness and note reading. Parents may observe their child in class to learn techniques for practicing at home. Each student is responsible for providing their own instrument for the program. (Recommended for children ages 10 – 15)

MUSC03 - Children's Music Lessons: Piano
Beginners will learn rhythm, counting, note value and introductory piano in private lessons. Parents may attend the classes with their children to learn techniques for practicing at home. (Recommended for children ages 5 – 15)

Beginners will learn rhythm, counting, note value and introductory violin in private lessons. Parents may attend the classes with their children to learn techniques for practicing at home. Junior Artist - Summer 2019
Are you a budding Picasso or just want to express yourself creatively? In art camp, you'll be able to do that using one or more of several media: drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, or combinations. Let your inner artist out and share your work with other young artists.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify various types of artistic media
- Examine and use artistic media through basic sketching techniques
- Imagine and create artwork through various painting styles
- Explain how to make collages using magazines, newspaper clippings, and personal photographs

Automotive Technology for Kids - Summer 2019
The engine, the brakes, and the wheels are all essential parts to any car. Automotive Technology for Kids is designed to introduce young students to the basic features and maintenance of a car. Tire changing, headlight replacement, fluid identification and battery charging are just a few of the lessons introduced in the class. Understanding how a car operates, the responsibilities of operating a car, and safety are other topics covered in this camp as well.

- Explore the history of cars
- Examine the basic features and components of a car
- Analyze a car's engine
- Compare automatic transmissions to manual transmissions
- Describe how a cars braking system operates
- Specify the importance of motor oil

Young Chefs Culinary Camp - Summer 2019
Children will learn how to transform everyday meals into mouthwatering experiences. These young chefs will learn how to cook and bake while using Triton College’s state-of-the art culinary kitchens. Introduce your child to the farm-to-table process, experience new recipes and discuss kitchen safety. Parents get ready to add another chef to your kitchen for some delicious, home cooked meals. Children will be exposed to a variety of foods including potential allergens such as nuts, eggs and wheat in the kitchen.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the origins of the culinary arts from past to present
- Discuss proper safety practices and basic knife skills
- Explore how food from the farm is processed and delivered to the table/restaurant
- Identify different proteins and techniques for cooking them
- Assess the various methods and spices to cook vegetables
- Introduce how to execute basic baking recipes

Digital Photography for Kids - Summer 2019
Digital Photography for Kids will teach children how to transform the world they see into art that connects with the emotions of the audience. Through the lens of a camera explore and capture artistic details while exploring Triton’s campus. Students will learn about the features of a camera, compose shots, and use image editing software to enhance their art. A USB cord, an 8GB flash drive or larger, and a digital camera are required. A DSLR camera with a lens and a compact flash is recommended, but point-and-shoot digital cameras and cell phone cameras are welcomed.

- Examine the components of a camera
- Understand the proper technique for taking photographs
- Discuss the concepts of composition in photography
- Discover the fun with taking quality pictures
- Produce a creative story through the lens of a camera

GADgET (Girls Only) - Summer 2019
GADgET (Girls Adventuring in Design, Engineering & Technology) is a summer program designed to introduce female youth between the ages of 10 and 14 to the world of manufacturing through hands-on projects, and site visits to manufacturing facilities. CAD, entrepreneurship skills, academic requirements for 21st century manufacturing careers, as well as teamwork skills are covered.
Overall Learning Goals:
To create an interactive, problem-solving environment where students can learn and share opportunities in the field of manufacturing. Through this experience we intend to provide youth with the necessary knowledge needed to develop and achieve their dreams through the world of manufacturing, including what it takes to start and run their own enterprise.

GLoW - Girls Learning to Weld - Summer 2019
An opportunity not like any other, introducing Girls Learning to Weld (GLoW). This four day, girls only program is designed to unveil the world of manufacturing to female youth between the ages of 12 and 16 through hands-on welding projects. Prototyping, layout on metal, entrepreneurship skills, academic requirements for 21st century manufacturing careers, as well as teamwork skills are covered.
Learning Objectives:
- Establish a basic layout for fabrication purposes
- Assess using personal protective equipment and best practices when welding
- Prepare a design and method for completing the class project
- Explain the steps and challenges of taking one’s idea and building a small business
- Introduce the academic and technical training needed to prepare for fields in welding and manufacturing
- Explore the various industries that welding is used

Health Careers Exploration Camp - Summer 2019
The Health Careers Exploration Camp is an opportunity for students who will be in 9th and 10th grades in the fall of 2019 to explore healthcare professions. Over four full days students will survey a range of career options and learn about important issues in health care through interactive lessons and labs and professional insight from practitioners. Students will also earn CPR certification through training lead by School of Health Careers and Public Service faculty.

Robocamp - Summer 2019
Students will build LEGO® robots that can perform different programmable movements. The participants can select a robot design to build and also create designs from their own imaginations. During this creative experience, programming and problem-solving will be a part of the fun
Learning Objectives:
- Program simple functions
- Define basic principles of robotics and engineering
- Organize a list of activities necessary to complete the first robot
- Identify how to use the programming software
- Define lateral movements through simple lessons about the robot's motor functions
- Analyze how the robot can move in various manners

Rocket Camp - Intro to Model Rocketry - Summer 2019
Come build and launch model rockets at the Cernan Earth and Space Center! This camp is for students entering or completing grades 6th, 7th or 8th.
Before launch, campers will experiment with Newton’s Laws, explore basic rocket science and safety, and experience rocket launches and more in the Cernan Center Planetarium.
Each student will build two rockets: one simple and one complex that they will take home after “Launch Day.”
Family and friends will be invited to attend the launch activities.

Waterbotics - Summer 2019
Young students will have fun learning math, science and technology skills as they design and build aquatic LEGO® robots and solve design challenges. Sensors, motors, drive configurations, and programming in LEGO® Mindstorm are covered.
Learning Objectives:
- Define what engineering is and its relationship with robots, including listing examples of everyday life applications
- Identify the hardware components of a robot, including sensors, motors, and servos, describing their functions
- Describe the Mindstorm NXT software
- Discuss the programming functions for the Mindstorm NXT software
- Explain how to apply the software and the programming functions to the robot
- Design a robot chassis using LEGO® pieces
- Program several different functions for the built robot
- Utilize different robotic sensors

To enroll into the FACTS payment plan, please follow the steps below.
Step 1. Request a MyTriton Portal user name and password for your child.
Compose an email to webadvisor@triton.edu requesting a MyTriton Portal user name and password for your child.
In the email, please provide your child’s first and last name, date of birth, last four digits of their social security number, and a preferred email address to contact.
Step 2. Click HERE to enroll in the FACTS payment plan.
