Veterans & Military Family Services

SPECIAL EVENTS

No events scheduled at this time

The Triton College Veterans Resource Center (VRC) is designed to assist veterans as they transition from serving in the Armed Services to Triton College as a student and civilian. We aim to help veteran students successfully attain their educational goals, which will prepare them for a career as well as support them in becoming a lifelong learner.

The Veterans Resource Center was created through the efforts of the 2015 President’s Leadership Academy. The vision stemmed from the Leadership Academy's understanding that Triton College needed to identify a centralized location on campus for veterans to gather, in an effort to strengthen support for veterans in the colleges’ communities.

The VRC provides veterans in the community, active duty personnel, and their families with a welcoming environment that offers them access to academic, career, and community resources. This goal is accomplished by providing programs on how veterans can access educational and financial assistance through their appropriate benefits, as well as informing them of available campus resources. The VRC also serves as a lounge area that provides a quiet study environment and a computer station to assist our veterans.

To obtain access to the VRC, one must be a Triton College veteran student, or a child of a Triton College veteran student. This information will be verified by  Welcome Center coordinator Toni Johnson, and qualifying students will be provided with a VRC sticker that will allow access into the VRC.

Veterans Networking Group

The mission of the Triton College Veterans Networking Group is to assist veterans in navigating the often difficult transition from the military to civilian and/or student life. The group provides a venue for continued camaraderie and networking among student veterans at Triton as well as veterans in the community.

Through this forum, the group offers advice to new veteran students and lobbies the school administration for improved veteran services. The forum also seeks to raise awareness of issues pertaining to returning and transitioning veterans by stimulating discussion on campus between veterans and the general campus community.

The Veterans Networking Group offers regular meetings, networking opportunities and events open to all veterans, regardless of their branch of service.

For more information or to be added to the Veterans Networking Group mailing list, contact Deborah Kaczmarek at (708) 456-0300, Ext. 3854, email Deborah Kaczmarek, or stop by Room A-137 in the A Building.
