RSVP Looking for Volunteers to Help at Housing Forward and Wonder Works Children’s Museum

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of West Suburban Cook and Southern DuPage Counties, sponsored by Triton College, is looking for volunteers who would like to help two of its partners out, Housing Forward and Wonder Works Children’s Museum.

Housing Forward is looking for front door receptionists to greet clients and guests, determine needed services, answer general questions, and control the traffic flow. The organization also needs administrative support and filing support. Housing Forward, located at 1851 S. Ninth Ave., in Maywood, needs the assistance Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Wonder Works Children’s Museum, located at 6445 W. North Ave., in Oak Park, is also looking for greeters and office support. Office assistants are an integral part of the team working alongside the leadership team preparing mailings for schools, fundraising support and database entry. As a greeter, volunteers are responsible for welcoming guests to the museum and making sure all children leave with an adult. Greeters also are responsible for handing out museum brochures and any other materials necessary.

Candidates for both positions would need to commit to a minimum of once a week for four weeks. For more information or to volunteer, call the RSVP Office at (708) 456-0300, Ext. 3603 or 3835, or email kayfrey@triton.edu.

RSVP is part of Senior Corps along with Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions. Senior Corps is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency that improves lives, strengthens communities, and fosters civic engagement through service and volunteering.
