Hester Jr. High 7th grader serves as Triton’s President for a Day

Sana Nimer, a seventh-grade student at Hester Jr. High School in Franklin Park, was selected to serve as this year’s Triton College ‘President for a Day.’ She earned the honor after winning an essay contest challenge issued to Hester’s seventh-grade class to describe a leader they admired. Sana wrote about her sister, Rasha, a graduate of Triton’s Radiologic Technology Program.
Sana and her entire class visited Triton for a special day full of activities in late May. The group participated in a STEM in Sports activity sponsored by Triton’s Health, Sport & Exercise Department; combined critical thinking and creativity while learning about fluid power with Triton’s Engineering/Technology faculty; and caught an educational planetarium show at the Cernan Earth and Space Center.
Sana also had the opportunity to share lunch and conversation with Triton College President Mary-Rita Moore and visit other areas of campus.
The President for a Day challenge is part of President Moore’s ‘President’s Initiative,’ which aims to strengthen relationships with members of in-district communities.
