Triton College celebrates Black History Month with community events
Triton College’s Black Academic Student Association (BASA) has organized a trio of events in February to celebrate Black History Month, highlighting the culture of African-Americans while also examining many of the issues they face in society.
The following events are FREE to attend:
Friday, Feb. 8
T.H.U.G. Movie & Discussion*, 1-4 p.m., Room B-204/210
Attend a screening of the movie The Hate U Give, which will be followed by a discussion. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
Wednesday, Feb. 13
Kinks & Coils: Guide to Black Hair**, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Room B240
Guest speakers will teach the ins and outs of black hair. Loving it, understanding it and handling it.
Thursday, Feb. 28
Black History Celebration*, Noon- 2 p.m., Student Center Cafeteria
Black History Month concludes with a celebration including games and educational activities. The event will feature an Ayodele drum and dance performance.
