Enroll in Continuing Education Classes

Continuing Education courses are a great way to learn a new skill or brush up on an existing one. Continue Education courses don't require the same enrollment steps as our tradition, credit classes. Enrolling in a CE course can be done by following these simple steps.

To get started, browse the current Continuing Education course schedule and find the class(es) that meet your interests and personal schedule. Take note of the meeting times, course and section number, and the cost for the course.

Once you have selected the course(s) that you wish to take, download the Continuing Education Registration Form below and fill out the required fields, which includes information about you as a student, and your desired courses.

Once you have completed your registration form, Submit your registration form to the Continuing Education office. Registration submission can be sent in a variety of ways

Be prepared to give the representative the information from your form, then keep the form for your records.

Continuing Education Programs, Courses, & Services

Various courses, programs, and services are offered by the Continuing Education department. Classes are available in the following areas.

Mission Statement
The Workforce Development Department at Triton College is committed to providing community members in Western Cook County with programs and services to meet their immediate employment and training needs.

The Workforce Development Department is designed to provide short-term grant funded training program opportunities to students in the Triton College community. Our primary focus is to work with those individuals who would not normally have an opportunity to attend college (i.e. low income, high school drop-outs, public aid recipients, dislocated workers).

Individuals must be Workforce Investment Act (WIA) eligible in order to access these programs. Those who qualify to receive assistance will have their tuition, books, fees, and instructional materials paid in full.

Triton Retraining Assistance Center (TRAC)
Triton College operates an Affiliate Illinois Employment Training Center (IETC) as part of the west suburban Cook County workforce development system. The center, contingent upon federal and state funding, offers services to employers and jobs seekers.

WIA Adult & Dislocated Worker Programs
Through the Workforce Investment Act program, our affiliate office provides workforce development services to low-income adults and dislocated workers.

Stop by our resource room and make use of Internet-based employment services, fax machine, phones, copier, and other employment-related resources to help you with your job search. Browse through a variety of books and videos designed to help you find the job you're looking for. Vocational Training Programs are available, based on eligibility and approval of funding.

Program Eligibility:
You may be eligible for free training if you meet the following conditions:

You have been unemployed for two years or less;
1. You are eligible for unemployment compensation or have exhausted your benefits;
2. You have one year of work history in the same low growth occupation.

You have been terminated or received notice of termination due to a permanent plant or facility closing.

Required documentation to determine eligibility includes:

A picture ID (drivers license or state ID card; Immigration of Naturalization ID)
A copy of your birth certificate or baptismal record
Unemployment Certification Letter; or notification of your benefits being exhausted
Letter of closure of layoff from your company (If a letter is not available a copy of a W-2 or check stub with your name and the company name)
Veteran’s need to supply your DD214
Proof of Citizenship
Public Aid recipients must provide a copy of their medical card.
Any males born on or after January 1, 1960 must show proof they registered for the selective service

Food Stamp Employment Training Grant Program
Triton College is the recipient of an FSE&T grant funds through the Department of Human Services. The program serves individuals who are currently on food stamps, i.e. 08 recipients.

Recruitment is done by referral from any Department of Human Services (DHS) office or by reverse referral.

Eligibility requirements are:
   • Able bodied adults without dependents
   • 16 – 59 years of age
   • Currently receiving food stamp assistant only

What is an IETC?
IETC stands for Illinois Employment Training Center and is part of a federal workforce development system known as the Workforce Investment Act. This system offers services to adults and dislocated workers who are trying to become re-employed, as well as provides information on various college programs and services.

I am a dislocated worker. Will this program pay for me to go back to school?
For financial assistance information, consult the college catalog or contact the Financial Aid office (add link to FA office) at (708) 456-0300, Ext. 3441. If you qualify, you can begin training classes sooner. While training is possible through the Workforce Investment Act, it is a “work first” system. Services are available to help you conduct your job search and include basic assessments, job matching assistance, vocational counseling, workshops, and the development of an individual employment plan before retraining can be offered.

Triton College’s Continuing Education Department is looking for you!

Teaching a non-credit class at Triton or one of our high school extension sites can be rewarding in so many ways. You can experience the enjoyment of helping others increase their knowledge and skill. You can meet people with similar interests. You can earn extra income by working in an area you enjoy. Because of the nature of non-credit classes, instructors are not required to have degrees as they must be able to demonstrate expertise in the subject area. Non-credit classes usually do not run for more than a few sessions and are short term assignments.

The Triton Continuing Education Department is looking for individuals with expertise and/or experience in many areas. While we are always adding new classes we are in current need of non-credit instructors for seminars in:
