As members of our community gradually return to campus, Triton College continues to implement the staged approach in the Campus Plan. The list of questions and corresponding answers will change based on the state of public health and as Illinois leaders provide new guidance.On-Campus ResponsibilitiesFace CoveringsAll persons on campus must wear a mask upon entering buildings, while walking through any public or shared spaces, while using shared equipment and technology (such as a printer), and if you encounter others on campus.Disposable masks for guests are available at the greeter station at the B building entrance. Triton will provide two (2) face coverings per employee, which can be picked up in the Bursar’s Office in B Building. Please make sure all Triton-issued and homemade masks are properly washed and disinfected on a regular basis.Everyone entering buildings on Triton’s campus is expected to wear a mask.

All employees, students, and campus visitors are required to self-certify (www.triton.edu/certify) each day within two (2) hours prior to starting their arrival on campus.

Regular Hand WashingTo reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19, it is important to follow good hygiene protocol, including regular hand washing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends:
- washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds;
- avoid touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands; and
- avoid close contact with people who are sick.

This fall, Triton College will offer five types of courses:
- Extended Remote Learning (ERL) – a virtual classroom experience with scheduled set meeting time(s) each week.
- Blended ERL – Classes take place virtually (scheduled weekly meeting times) and required on campus instruction as arranged by the instructor.
- Online – classes held in standard online format.
- Hybrid – Classes held in standard online format, that also includes required on campus instruction.
- Traditional In-person – Classes meet on campus at scheduled meeting time(s) each week. Triton will offer a very limited amount of these courses.
Our fall course offerings are structured to ensure that we can transition between online and in-person instruction while preserving the quality and integrity of our courses and maintaining safety.
Triton has limited the number of classes and students on campus this fall in preparation for such a situation. Instruction will continue virtually if the campus must close, and employees will return to working from home until it is safe to return to campus.
Following are Triton’s procedures for addressing positive employee and student COVID-19 cases:
Yes. Prior to returning to campus, employees are required to complete two SafeCollege modules. All employees must also self-certify the status of their health within two hours of arriving to campus each day through the online self-certification form.
Employees are requested to remain only in their designated work areas. Out of concern for our campus community, all employees are required to wear a face covering upon arrival on campus and while traveling through common areas (e.g., to the restroom, to another building, etc.) and if you encounter another employee.
Social distancing signage and markings are posted in buildings and across the campus.
All employees, students, and visitors must wear a face covering while on campus. Employees are provided two complimentary reusable masks that can be picked up in the Bursars Office in the B Building.

Campus opened on July 20 for all non-faculty employees. All departments and staff have resumed standard hours and normal operations on campus. This allows the college to prepare for all buildings to reopen to the public on August 3, the first day of Stage 6 of the Campus Plan. From July 20 through August 2 (Stage 5), there will be limited opportunities for students and visitors to meet on campus with Student Services staff, participate in Cernan Earth and Space Center activities, and conduct business with the US Bank.
Campus orientation and virtual tours are occurring virtually though July 19. After that date, small groups will be scheduled on campus following the State of Illinois Phase 4 restrictions on social distancing and total number of individuals. Triton will always work to protect the privacy of all employees as well as the health and safety of the campus community. Triton asks all employees to self-certify their health daily before coming to work and to stay home when not well.
Triton will work to isolate the area(s) of exposure and follow Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines to clean and disinfect areas used by ill employees.
Student workers likely will not return to on-campus work until a later date (yet to be announced). Should there be remote work responsibilities that are not being accomplished with current staff availability before that date, then student workers may be an option for additional work assignments.
